  • 98% of the world’s olive oil comes from the Mediterranean region, which has a history of olive tree cultivation that stretched back more than 6,000 years. Olive oil is good for the skin. The oil's fat composition is very similar to that of human skin. Therefore, olive oil generally doesn't cause any allergic reactions.

In addition it is absorbed quickly, doesn't leave a greasy film behind and helps lock moisture into the skin.

  • At Lovesum Soap, we love using ingredients with a rich history and proven benefits—and coconut oil is one of the stars in our recipe. Used for centuries in tropical regions, coconut oil has long been cherished for its healing, moisturizing, and cleansing properties. Ancient cultures in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands used it not only for cooking but also as a natural remedy for skin and hair care.

In our handmade soap, coconut oil contributes a luxurious, bubbly lather and a deep, nourishing cleanse. It helps harden the bar naturally, giving it a long-lasting, skin-loving finish. Rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, it supports healthy, hydrated skin with every use. At Lovesum Soap, this time-honored ingredient brings tradition and nature together in every bar.

  • At Lovesum Soap, we believe that great skincare should be kind to both people and the planet. That’s why we use certified organic, sustainably sourced palm oil in our cold process soap. Palm oil has been used for thousands of years—originating in West Africa, where it was valued not only as a food staple but also as a natural moisturizer and healing balm for the skin.

In soapmaking, palm oil plays an essential role by giving each bar a rich, creamy texture and a long-lasting hardness, so your soap stays firm and effective down to the last sliver. Our commitment to sustainable sourcing ensures that the palm oil we use is grown without harming rainforests, wildlife, or communities—supporting responsible farming practices and protecting natural ecosystems.

With every bar of Lovesum Soap, you’re not only caring for your skin, but also making a mindful choice for a cleaner world.

  • Castor oil has a long and fascinating history, dating back to ancient Egypt, where it was used in beauty rituals, medicinal remedies, and even as lamp fuel. Extracted from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant, this thick, nutrient-rich oil has stood the test of time as a skin-loving botanical powerhouse.

At Lovesum Soap, we include castor oil in our formula for its unique ability to boost lather and add a silky, conditioning feel to every wash. Just a small amount transforms your soap into a bubbly, creamy cleanser that glides across the skin while helping to lock in moisture. High in ricinoleic acid, castor oil also supports skin health with its natural anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

This ancient ingredient brings softness, richness, and a touch of timeless care to every bar of Lovesum Soap.

Castor oil

Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean (technically castor seed as the castor plant, Ricinus communis, is not a member of the bean family). Castor Oil is rich in fatty acids that are very moisturizing to the skin. This oil acts as a humectant, attracting moisture to skin. Castor oil is a triglyceride of fatty acids. Almost 90 percent of its fatty acid content consists of ricinoleic acid. To my knowledge, ricinoleic acid is not found in any other substance except castor oil. Such a high concentration of this unusual, unsaturated fatty acid is thought to be responsible for castor oil's remarkable healing abilities.

Grape seed oil

Grape seed oil (also called grapeseed oil or grape oil) is a vegetable oil pressed from the seeds of various varieties of Vitis vinifera grapes, an abundant by-product of winemaking. Grape seed oil is a preferred cosmetic ingredient for damaged and stressed tissues, possessing regenerative and restructuring qualities which allow a better control of skin moisturization. It can help skin retain the normal structure of epithelium cells and nerve cells via supporting the cell membranes. Used as an all-over skin moisturizer, grape seed oil is known to reduce the look of stretch marks. A light, thin oil, grape seed oil leaves a glossy film over the skin when used as a carrier oil for essential oils in aromatherapy. It contains more linoleic acid than many other carrier oils. Grape seed oil is also usable as a lubricant for face shaving.
